What do you do to members who make multiple accounts for their own use? Would you just ban one of their accounts outright or would you demand a very good reason for having two accounts? I'd just ban them outright to be honest, there is no need for two accounts.

There really isn't any reason to have two accounts, but sometimes staff members on promotion forums do it.... They have one account as a staff member where they have to share out their signature and one real one for themselves.

I've never heard of an admin having two accounts for those purposes on a forum. Then again, how would you know?

Having multiple accounts is the sign of a scammer..if he is trusted person there is no need for him to create a second..obviously he need to be banned immediatly..:)

But what if the purpose of having a second account was what Sam described above Hashif? I know as a staff member myself that having my signature taken up by other peoples adverts are irritating.

I wouldn't be a staff member if my signature was taken up, although there are some exceptions.... But one of the rewards of being a staff member is that a lot of the community are likely to visit the links you display. You'd loose that benefit.

Sockpuppetry is a philany.

I tend to follow RailPage Australia(tm)'s rulings. They ban users as soon as they have a second account sighted.
