What has been the most challenging experience you've had to deal with as a forum owner?
For me, it was dealing with database issues on a very large forum I used to have. I bought out my competition and merged it over to my forum. It had over 10,000 members at that point and hundreds of thousands of posts. I was nearly a Big Board.
Then the database corrupted. I didn't backup like I should had. I ended up losing the forum. The ROI of buying the competition was negative in the end.
It aided in me taking a break from forums for a few years.
I learned the importance of backing up things. I also came back without an interest on being that competitive. If I can't grow the forum without buying other forums, then I shouldn't get into forums.
In all honestly, I'm glad it happened because I learned something.
How about you? What's your story?
