.Mobi - Big Hopes but Didn't Catch On

The world was becoming mobile in the 2010s and people thought this new extension would be profitable. However, though, I don't hear much of it anymore. Nonetheless, it looks cool. It looks good for some site about mobiles. It would also be good for a site which features an application that is specific for mobiles like some guitar tuner for a mobile.

I don't even remember hearing about this domain. I must have overlooked it. In terms of mobile gaming, apps, etc. it is not really something I invest a lot of time in. My main focus is making my sites easy and enjoyable for mobile users. I don't use many apps or anything myself.

.mobi was very popular during the early days of android. Many gaming websites and software websites had this extension. Many thought these extensions only worked on mobiles. But this craze gradually withered off and no one uses them now.

I think not just dot mobi a lot of niche domains (domains related to certain niches) did not become popular. For instance, there a domain dot forum for forum sites, I have never come across any forums using this domain. There is a domain called dot blog for blogs but I don't see blogs using it.
