Merging phpbb forums

I run a forum on phpbb and now I want to merge it with another phpbb forum. I have never done something like this, so I want to reach out to people who have tried merging two different forums. How do you merge phpbb forums, are there specific add ons to help with the merging, are these addons free?

There's a script I found when searching on Google. I'm not sure if it will work, since phpBB is on version 3.3 now but you could try to give it a go.

There's also another topic I came across from 2009 that talks about merging two phpBB forums by combining their databases but it's quite complex.
