How do you handle this?
For example. if someone tries to sell some products or services, there are always some members who try to criticize it and try to scare away the potential buyers.

IMO this practice is not good for a marketplace. Feedback is good only if its done by people who bought the service. Otherwise no people will be interested in placing their offers in the market section.

Criticizing a seller with no intention of buying their service is so off putting and I guess it shouldn't be allowed in a forum. What do you think?

I agree 100% with you. I think that senior members should be allowed to point out product deficets but the marketplace isn't an area to discuss, say, the usefulness of buying twitter followers...

I usually lock it down pretty quick, asking the users to either go away or buy something. After all, it's a marketplace thread, not a discussion thread ;)

A smart thing to do, if you're the owner or admin, would be to start a generic topic on the subject and redirect them to that :p
