Making Contests for only the Dedicated?

Have you ever created a contest where only people who have been around for lets say 2 months can participate? Why not? Usually contests get inflated with new members looking to get something for free rather than a good community, so why not give something back to the actual community?

Contest for dedicated members is a good idea. But that might be a little off-putting for the new comers who legitimately joins the community. They come here and gets this info about the contest and they will be like yaay, the next moment they see this clause and they will be like wtf

But if the community is really huge and has got a good number of active users and all, this is pretty much the best idea!

Could always have a secondary prize for newcomers that is slightly less in worth.

Seems a bit stupid to only allow older members to join because most contests are to get new people in and active. So it is not something I would do.
