I know social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X are hard to compete with. Even the Facebook owner himself couldn't start up a new successful social platform off the back of his other two. I feel there is little to no chance of competing with the big 4 at this point... But what about something more like Reddit?

I do not think it is easy to create a Reddit like site and compete with it. Reddit might not have as many users as facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. but Reddit is certainly a strong community. It has loyal users. For business, having a subreddit is a prestigious thing.

Reddit have more loyal users than Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Threads. All these social media users are good in moving from one old social media site to another. A good example is what went down with Twitter and Threads. It's not so with Reddit users. If you created a new site like Reddit, you won't see users moving from Reddit to whatever name you give your own.

Reddit is unique in its own way and that is something I feel would be very difficult to recreate as a site but make it unique as well.

Being that Reddit is also very popular, creating something similar and getting the interest that Reddit gets would also be very difficult being that so many are not invested in Reddit and wouldn't want to go elsewhere.

I think that we already have something like an alternative to Reddit. Quora is the website that I'm talking about but for some obvious reasons, Reddit seems to be more popular. I don't know if creating another website like Reddit and Quora would be a good idea. At least for me, I wouldn't be thinking about it.

Yes, Quora is a good site similar to Reddit but personally I still prefer Reddit, I've noticed, or at least it's the notifications I get from Quora and I don't know why, people ask a lot of absurd questions on Quora, so I don't like it too much, I see Reddit as something more serious, although being so massive and so many people using it, it has its flaws and room for improvement as well, also on the other hand competing with Reddit right now is very difficult but I think it could be possible since it does not have many serious competitors.

Personally, I don't make use of either of them. It's Reddit that I have used more and it's because I had a work that a client of mine gave me to work on Reddit. I must say that at the time, I came across good contents on the website but for the fact that it's not something I'm used to, I couldn't get back into using it.
