Lending Out Domains

If you have a lot of domains with no use, have you considered renting or lending them out? Is it rewarding? I mean, why waste a good domain? Also, why not profit from unused domains? Anyway, it might be a rough sell trying rent out a domain, if it isn't highly attractive.

I don't lend out any domains. Usually I try to hold onto domains, that are similar to my primary domain. Because of that, I can't make others use the .net or .com versions of that domain.

If I no longer use some domain, then I would let go of it. I am sure in some far future, they will be able to fetch good price but I don't want to keep on holding onto them, just because of some possibility. Lately though, I have been thinking about it but not sure whether I will be able to take any action or not.

I have thought about doing it at one point, but never got around to doing anything about it. One of the people I work with, was going to let me use a domain he wanted to purchase for me, with the idea that he gets a small amount of anything I made off of it, but it never got anywhere.

Heck, I think I might do something like that with the domain I have parked.

I don't think I have ever owned more than 2 domains at a time to even consider this. I like to focus on one project at a time so I never own a large number of domains. If you are offering the domain for free, with maybe something small in return, then it could work. But I don't think anyone is going to pay you to rent out a domain

It depends on the domain. However, honestly, most people don't have highly attractive .coms or other extensions with a lot of traffic and/or SEO power.

I'm a domainer and have never for once where someone says he had lend out his or her domain name. If you don't need a domain again, the least you can do is to list it on different market place for sale. For example you can list it on DAN, Epik and afternic and this will give you good return as you can sell it for up to times three of the amount you bought it.

I don't know how lending works, however, once I offered domains for free to my facebook friends. I was offering two domaina for free on first come first basis. interestingly no one showed up. LOL

If you are domain flipping which means you bought an extra domain to sell later then you cannot let others use it. If there is a buyer and the domain is active then the buyer may be turned off. What is the purpose of having more than 1 domain especially with domains that are parked? I guess the main purpose is to sell those domains. Another purpose is the plan to create a website with the domain name but still that domain cannot be lent or be used by others for the meantime.

Someone looking to unlock money to start a business or invest in another opportunity might not realize that they can borrow against a domain name while keeping ownership of it. Let’s say you are lucky enough to own a one word domain like walker.com, a two word phrase like newbody.com, or a three letter domain name like ezc.com.

Well, that's assuming the bankers know something about domaining, lol. I mean, a lot of people are in the dark about it. In fact, you might need a specific bank where the people are knowledgeable.

Firstly , you don't necessarily have to pay the entire amount at once to purchase the domain name Just like your home or car purchase, you can make a down payment and then finance the remainder over time. so you ll need to check with lenders about options, terms and conditions.

That is a nice idea to lend and hire domain for people interested about it. It's good especially when you are not making proper use of your domain you can decide to lend it about with good profit return. That's an option worth taken, I might go buy domains for a purpose of lending out if its possible Lol.

Well it is a good idea if you actually know the person that you are lending it out to. This way it would be easier to observe what he's doing and make sure your site is safe. On a flip side, lending it out would also help with some traffic that could accrue to you later especially when the person returns the site.

If they can manage their time well better for them to own multiple domain and hosting providers. They can still employ a manager that have clear understanding about blogging to help carry it out, ensuring that everything moves fine.

If anyone is giving me a domain, I will take the domain only if it has a value and only if I have the use. I will not take a domain even for free f I do not see any value and if the domain is nit useful to me.

I registered a lot of domains when I got them for a low price. When I had to spend a lot of money on renewal, I decided to use those domains by building website. These days I sell websites. maybe instead of lending, you can try building a website and put it on sale

Lending out a domain name would actually be very risky as anyone that you have given the access to your domain may decide not to give it back to you.

I would rather buy my domain than operate on a lent out domain. If you want to auction it at a low rate then I would buy, but to lend? No thank you!
