I had to do some research on the latest updates and changes in search algorithms, and made a little overview. What do you think has made the biggest impact to Search Engines ? Do you know anymore updates that drastically improved the algorithms?
- BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers): This update, which was released in 2019, helps Google better understand the context of words in a query.
- EAT (Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness): This update, which was rolled out in 2018, places a greater emphasis on the quality and relevance of a website's content, as well as the expertise and authority of the people behind the content.
- Pigeon: This update, which was released in 2014, improved the local search results by better integrating them with the main search algorithm.
- Hummingbird: This update, which was released in 2013, focused on understanding the meaning behind queries, rather than just matching keywords.
- Panda: This update, which was released in 2011, targeted low-quality or thin content and helped to improve the quality of search results.
- Penguin: This update, which was released in 2012, targeted websites that were using spammy or manipulative tactics to improve their search rankings.
