Do you guys like to keep discussions on religion and politics away from your forums? I tend to not allow it at most sites I run, but there are forums I have sections geared for such discussions. I also want to have forums where it's an open forum for anyone to use. But most of my forums have a theme and I try to keep politics and religion out of those. But the general topic forums I run usually have sections for them. What about you?

This is not the case in most of the forums since the topics related in discussions for example here on Bizdustry or on RIF there are contests during Christmas Date or even new year events and even previously on Trendri means they involve religious subjects on the forum in the form of the contest but if forum owner doesn't like politics and religions means no Christmas Contest for example otherwise it doesn't make sense to prohibit on subjects and include in contests. It is same @Grant.

I do what I can to try and keep politics and religion away from my forum. As much as I do appreciate that everyone has their own views and they should be able to express those views, I find that when it is discussed on somewhere like a forum where many will have different opinions and views, it never ends well and is better off left undiscussed.

I own niche forums and I have never worked with religion and politics niches on my forums. However, I have owned multiple websites where I published on religion and politics. I have been a member of a lot of forums on religion and politics niches and I have had some pretty bad experiences.

I can actually deal with running a forum that is based on political discussions because there are still some healthy political discussions members can get into and it won't cause much problem but when it comes to religious discussions, it's something that is very sensitive and it can blow up like a dynamite in the blinking of an eye.

I sincerely believe that both topics are difficult to deal with and there may be too many disputes between users if these types of discussions and debates start to be encouraged in the forum in question, I prefer not to intervene or give an opinion on these topics because I know they are delicate and I do not want to get involved in topics that are so controversial.

I try as much as I can not to let talks of politics and religion become the core subjects on my forum. They are two areas that can mess up the whole thing that you've been doing on a forum. Members can go overboard while trying to prove that they are politically correct. So, I make plans to avoid those kind of issues from the onset.

It's debate forums which keep discussions on religion and politics in a steady flow in the community. It's the kind of topics which generates activities and traffic to the forum. I like keeping discussions on religion and politics in a light note in my forum.
