Hello,
It is good to have Joomla Blog. However I have to your some tips when running joomla blog depending on my single experience:
1 - Using of K2 extension: This extension is awesome
Because for regular posting there is no gravatar feature while it is the case when installing K2 option then there is gravatar of author and also the posts looks more prettier
2 - Allow comments for only registered users and set up a captcha for comments:
If you are allowing guest post your blog gots 1000 spam comments a day so track registrations could ban people posting comments that makes no sense and also limit registrations by IP address
3 - Use of Cloudflare: This guarantee that your blog is visited by a regular person and not a bot spamming your blog with trash posts.
