Joining a forum strictly to become a ranked

So I've seen this more than I can count on my forum, people will join for one reason, and they are so blatant about it. They wish to become a ranked, and once you turn them down their activity instantly dies down.

What do y'all think about this?

Staff sorry, that's my minecraft terms coming to play lol. Ranked as in a graphic artist, admin, moderator, over staff stuff.

So, basically people who join for the purpose of gaining a position of power?

It often happens and for smaller forums it is sometimes the only way they can get volunteer staff members. Staff generally receive reputation benefits on a forum- which is why I'd join as a staff member (not for any power).

There's bunch of people that go joining on random forums and bugging administrators or owners for a staff position. I think that's just pathetic and such people should never be given a staff position in my opinion.
