Java Safe

Is Java a safe program to be using/ developing in? After the recent exploit in the program are people worried. Oracle has apparently fixed the problem- Oracle Releases Emergency Fix for Java — WebmasterDaily but will other exploits be found?

Nothing differnt then windows but we still use it.
