Is Wordpress a CMS?

I felt a little arrogant saying that I wouldnt get into a debate over whether Wordpress is a CMS....

So here I am my personal position is Wordpress is a CMS, but what about you? Is it a CMS or just a blogging platform?

I'll definitely have to come back here and post why I think it is a CMS when I have the time if too many people are of the opinion that Wordpress is a CMS, I'll have to play the devils advocate

I will say, Wordpress can be used as a CMS!
Its original purpose is to be a blog.
