Is there a site you wish you could replicate?

Are there any sites out there that you wish you could replicate? Maybe copy and do a similar style. I wouldn't mind starting a social site as popular as Facebook, but I doubt I could handle running such a site.

Are there any specific sites you'd like to replicate?

Skype is a site I would like to replicate. It was my first-go-to for online communication before Facebook and other chat messenger became very popular. If I have the resources to create a replica of Skype but a better version, I will love to execute it.

Helium is one of the earliest sites where I started working online. It was a content site and I made a substantial amount of money. However, the site shut down in 2014. I would like to make a site like Helium.

I like classical themes. Some of the classical themes may look old. however, even older themes could look great if they are designed well. I have seen such kind of themes on a few websites. However, they have also changed their design. New is not always better. So, I would like to replicate such sites that have a classical theme.

I wish I could replicate a site like Reddit, but I surely wouldn't want to be the owner of a site that large. Reddit is the social media we have closest to forums, it seems, so that's one reason I tend to lurk around there often.

Yes, I went to a friend of mine's portfolio and I was blown away maybe it was because I don't have a website of my own and the idea of having to see someone's own website considering we were both in the same line of work made me feel like I should just munch his sites

You're very correct about the similarities between forums and Reddit. This is even why some people are of the opinion about forums beating Reddit but I don't see that happening. You will hardly see any forum that gets the level of traffic and activities Reddit have every day. I would love to have something similar to it.

I couldn't fathom owning a site that large, though. I like to be able to see everything that is posted on my site and I surely wouldn't be able to do that with social media of the likes. Something in between that has a lot less activity but is still pretty active would be nice.

Well, there's nothing wrong in copying your friend's website. Most people would see it as a win for them to be copied because it shows that they have done something good with their website that makes look good for others to copy. Just give credit to your friend when copying his own work.
