A project of mine entails the making of a logo that is in watercolour. My sense is that it's probably not going to be possible to do it in vector and hence there will be scalability issues Am I right or is there any way that it can be done without any major issues?

can you give me an example of a logo what do you mean? I'm really curious what ideas you have.

It can be good. There are many people who have done it in the past. I think for short term gig that is a good logo. But for long term business branding that sort of logo wont fit the bill. And another thing is that watercolor logo tends to go well for the brands which are into the exotic and tropical theme. Atleast that is what I have noticed.

I think its ok. You see, a logo should be advisably simply. This depends on the brief you are working with and your client. The key is to make sure that there's a smooth blend among elements of the logo and most importantly, your logo must be a vector

This is when psychology comes into perspective, it must not be The water color as they said but something people can relate to so the design should look like water.

Achieving a perfectly layered watercolor image takes time, skill and dedication. ... That's why watercolor logos are a great way to communicate attention to detail. If your goal is to show that a personal touch went into crafting your products, a watercolor logo can be a great choice to do so.

Making logos or themes that is too shiny, affects the sight, so we shouldn't make it too colourful, but waterfall colours or themes aren't bad either.

I think it's possible but the major issue you will have is mixing the right color to give you a water kind of appearance. Pro graphic designers can find their way around this but currently I can't.

I am not aware of what a water colour logo is. Do you mean that it is painted offline and uploaded on the website? Can you please explain what is it exactly?

It all depends on the type of logo, your skill level with designing such types of logo's and client demands but in general there are no wrong types of logo as long as it's catchy, non-forgetible and meets the client demands it'll work

I will advise you to get a good software if you want to render logo design service in the marketplace as a freelancer. Watermark logo design is good when you want to teach students in the school.

I believe the logo should use vivid colors. You need to use at least 2-3 colors on your logo to make it look distinct. people identify logos based on the colors used on it.
