Investing in people

Have you ever taken a risk to invest in people instead of something. Maybe instead of investing into the product, you invest into the creator to see what he or she could end up doing later on. I think it'd be cool to invest into some important figure, as maybe there is a way to make some money doing it. What do you think?

My father invested in me. I will invest in my kid. This is one of the most common investment strategies when it comes to invest in people. However, there are also other ways to invest in people, for instance you can invest in skill development of your staff.
