If you were to encounter a medical emergency while abroad, how confident are you in your knowledge of the procedures and coverage provided by your travel insurance, and what steps would you take?

I absolutely have no idea. I hope it never comes to that. First of all, I don't have any insurance to begin with but even if I would to have, still I have no idea how that would work. Do they have a clause specifically for foreigner countries or it works only if you are in your own country?
