Hey guys. I wanted to ask how many of you would signup if I started a forum about everything! That's right. It would have different topics. I would like to see around 10 members before I buy a domain and start setting it up! Thanks for the help.

To be honest there are already tons and tons and tons of general discussion forums out there.

Unless you can come up with something new that no one else offers, then people won't really have a reason to join your site.

Why would they join a small forum with only a dozen members, when there are dozens of other super active forums in the same niche?

Put yourself in the shoes of other people. Why would they join the site? You need to give them a reason.

Research your competition and find out if there is something new that you can offer.

General chat forums never do well which sucks. I mean I have tried finding nice ones in the past and I never stick around. They are either really dead or mostly taken over by a select group of trolls who look for reasons to ban people.

Make a forum on a controversial topic, and take a stance on it. It might polarize people, but you might inspire the conviction of others.
