We get a tune up for our HVAC twice a year, once in spring for the AC and once in the fall for the furnace. It never fails that they tell me something is going wrong with the unit and there has to be something that is just about done with its life and needs replacing. Today was the inducer motor that's making a noise and that would be $300 more to replace today. We'll wait it out, I told the guy.
When our furnace was only a year old, we had someone out to do a tune up who said that he advised us to replace some other part...and I said, but it's only a year old! Then he said we could wait until it actually went out. That was 5 years ago and since then NO ONE else has said that part needs to be replaced. hmm
Do you trust maintenance/service people?
