One of my most hated tasks when making a forum is the graphics. Specifically the ads... I stick to simple, unless I hire someone to do if for me. If you're low on money, you know hiring a graphic designer is out of the question unless you know a friend who you can take advantage of. That's why I'm going to show you how to make a quick 728x90 banner.

What We're Making:

Requirments:

  • Photoshop
  • Common Sense

Step 1:

Go to https://web-capture.net/ and input your URL. Click Capture, and then wait for it to shoot you some download options. Download it however you want. This will download a full-size picture or your web page.

Step 2:

Open up Photoshop, and get an artboard of 728x90px.

Step 3:

Make 2 rectangles with whatever color you want. I'm going to choose #34495E. One small on the right side, and one longer one on the left side. Should look like this:

Step 4:

Then use the Direct Selection tool and make the rectangles angled. Select the tool, select the rectangle, and then click and drag the edges to make the angle. Should look like:

Step 5

Drag your logo in. You may have to resize it.

Step 6

Drag your screenshot in, resize, and rotate it. (CTRL + T, CMD + T)

Step 7

Put in some text, "Join" or whatever you want. For the purpose of the tutorial, I'm going to say Join Today!

I really enjoyed looking at this tutorial. This is one of the simplest graphic tutorials I've ever read that still looks as if the graphic was designed by an advanced graphic designer. I really appreciate this graphic tutorial and I hope that you will do more in the future.

I also know of this website called www.canva.com that can be really useful when it comes to graphics. I highly recommend you check into that and you might find some interesting things there as well.

I really appreciate that! I love Canva a lot, especially know that they made a mobile app!

I do have a question for you, should I include the end project as a download? Meaning the Photoshop file or Ai file?

I'm assuming that you mean the download to the logo you created? If this is the case, you can but I don't think it's necessary. I believe your tutorial is fine just the way it is.

Yeah, basically like the photoshop file I used to make this.
Thanks for letting me know!
