As we all know forums are going downhill, and we are looking for ways to improve the interaction for users. What's your thought, idea on how to keep your forum members engaged and discussing?

I suppose they would have to bribed, unfortunately. There must be a real reward. Nonetheless, if your material is interesting enough and you have really strong fans of a niche, you can get free engagement, so to speak. Well, on social media, with politics as an example, people chatter away simply cause they get off on it.

If possible, you can have one thread (maybe per week or so) where members can just get to know each other or post stuff they are interested in. Because for me, interaction follows once a better relationship was built.

That interaction is a good idea and there is a lot o forums that do have that however this is generally the section that you are not rewarded for.

There are two methods that have worked for me, one, engage with post exchange with other forum owners, and two, buy posting packages on webmaster forums. Post exchange does not cost any money, you only need to reciprocate. If you are active on webmaster forums you can use your earned credits to buy packages and yo do not have to spend money for that purpose.

You should recognize and highlight their contributions, showcasing their posts or comments to acknowledge their efforts. Maintain respectful and effective moderation to keep the community safe and free from any negative behavior. consider offering rewards or incentives such as badges or special recognition for active and engaged members.

Consistent engagement with the board owner and staff should really help keep the members on their feet if they visit your forum. Ask them questions, get to know them, connect with them, bond with them, and respect them and their opinions. Some niches are harder than others to keep members coming in, but for your everyday general discussion, gaming, or webmaster board you can usually keep engaging with your members and create consistent content for them to reply to.
