When you learn about SEO, you will discover that having a sleek and attractive website is essential to capturing attention. If you website is not those things, you need to make some changes. It all returns to web design. People need to get on a site that’s functioning, seamless, and attractive. Use the following advice to please them.

Do not use a lot of graphics. Graphics are important, but too many can yuck things up. Graphics should be used to improve the site, not overdecorate it. Having the right amount of graphics will improve your site’s usability and reduce the clutter.

Research your subject thoroughly. For example, if you are creating a blog, don’t post without doing your research. If you give customers information that’s no good you may lose the readers you have. Knowing your subject thoroughly will make your blog good.

No matter what your website looks like, all the file sizes should be small. This is because the size of the files dictates the speed at which your website loads. A website that loads more quickly is always a top priority in web design. Remember, too, that some visitors may be using dial-up or other low-speed connections. Check out your website on all types of connections, including a dial up connection.

It is very important that you understand the needs of your web visitors. A good web designer will always remained focused on the needs of the end user. This is going to have everything to do with accessibility and usability, as well as different types of social interaction. Always prioritize your visitors. You need to look through the eyes of the visitors when you make a website.

Make sure that your load times are up to par at all times. If people visiting your site are waiting for pages to load, boredom will quickly set in and they will leave. Reduce graphics, scripts and Flash consoles on your web page, optimize HTML and utilize SSI files.

Don’t underestimate the importance of your “About Us” page. Many websites that you see will have boring pages for this area. This is an opportunity to make your website stand out. Get a little personal with this information by describing how you got started with web design, who your family members are, and what your business goals are.

Use professional-looking, and readable fonts. The font type on a website is a quick indicator of how professional it is. Don’t use handwriting or comic fonts as most people won’t have them installed. Unusual fonts can be classified as subsets on a viewer’s screen. This can make your website look a lot worse.

When you design a website, be aware of the value of leaving blank space in your layout. If you insist on making use of each pixel, your site may end up cluttered. Give your users a break by allowing space between different elements on each page. You would be surprised how empty space can often be as valued as content.

People online are not overly picky, it is just that they do not want to visit sites that are hard to navigate, slow loading, and unattractive. By following the tips you just read about, you can prevent the mistakes that most amateur web designers make.

The most important thing to consider is website content (after all people come to visit your website because of content and not because you have a great design). Your content needs to be original and unique. If you are offering the same thing that is being offered by a lot of websites, why would people come to your website just tom read duplicate content.

These are things that newbies overlook. When I started, I also realized that they are not easy to learn. It best to take one thing at a time.

About the 'About Us' page, I know of professional bloggers who turned the entire thing into a fun-filled interesting link to their entire blog. It would be nice to do something like that.

I have seen lots of people make the mistakes with having too many graphics. Especially blogs, when you are not making descriptions or explanations, they should be reduced to minimum.
