How much knowledge about hosting, servers, domain registration, and technical expertise do you have as a community owner?

Do you feel that most community owners need to have some kind of knowledge about operating servers, databases, and such? Especially those who are using self-hosted platforms.

Of should they just rely on the hosting service to meet their needs and wants for support?

Tell us what you think about this topic.

Less and less each year. I used to be pretty good at getting whatever I needed done on the server side, but I have faded away from the server side and fallen in love with the cloud side of things. Well, a love/hate with the cloud side of things lol.

I was like that at a time.

But now I have a job where I work on networks, switches, and servers all day long. Now, I'm starting to understand things that I never really got to well before.

I'm getting good at using PuTTy for example!
