If I could do that, I will set a maximum of 3 links. More than that is not needed and will look spammy to the new users I guess.

So what are your thought on this?

Just leave it be and put large signatures under moderation. (You can do that. ^-^)

Anything above three is very spammy. I wouldn't allow more than that... :) It may also be something extra to offer premium members; three links for VIP's, two for other members.

I allow as much as they want in mine, mainly because my users don't exactly post competition in their signatures. They post links to personal sites, such as their Tumblrs, their Gamer Tags or their DeviantArt accounts. It's no biggie for me under the niche I'm working in.

So what is your website niche Raz?

As long as it isn't annoying or distracting, my users can have whatever they like in their signatures. Even if they are promoting themselves, they also have to be active for it to be effective. Win win.

My members are allowed 3 links in the signatures, 2 lines of text. They can promote same-niche sites or anything as long as it's not adult, warez, illegal, poker. They cannot put images or affiliate links. i don't allow deep-linking and each link should go to a different site.

How do you guys enforce the three links rule? Unless your forum platform has some automated way of preventing this it seems like a lot of police work.

A lot do have automated ways of doing this. I'm pretty sure Mybb and Vbulletin have the option, as for other softwares I am not sure. However, when you are small you can always manually do it. :)

I don't think xF has it, do they? That's what I run. But as I said, I'm less interested in policing the signatures than I am in producing great content. These signature spammers people are worried about would have to post for their efforts to be rewarded...
