Having tons of ads makes your site look messy. Visitors don't like seeing a cluttered mess of ads when they come to your site. Especially if the ads are annoying (pop up ads, for example) or block the content the visitors are trying to read. Also, flashy ads and video ads are also not very good as they make your web pages bigger and slow down your site load time. And if your site is hard to navigate because of all the ads, people will quickly lose interest. So, it's best to keep things balanced and not overdo it with ads on your site.

Ads on websites do not piss me off. I don't use ad blockers. I believe the website owners should be allowed to earn through ads. However, a lot of website owners are so tempted to use a lot of ads that it makes me frustrated. I believe limiting your site to 4-5 ads can be good.

The number of ads you can place on your website is typically determined by the advertising platform's policies, as well as best practices for user experience. It's important to balance the need for ad revenue with providing a positive experience for your website visitors. Some platforms may have specific guidelines on the number and placement of ads, so it's a good idea to review their policies and consider the overall impact on user experience when deciding how many ads to place on your website.

Yes, some ad networks have specific guidelines on how many ads you can use. For instance, most CPM based ad networks tell you that you can only use 1-2 ad units as one page view will be counted as just one impression and no matter how many ads you use, you will just earn from page impression
