These console generations don't seem to end when you expect them. The 360/PS3 era lasted until fairly recently, albeit with support lost years ago. There was still games coming out for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 for a while in the 2010s I want to say. Then we got to the generation of Xbox One and PS4 and that generation went by like nothing, now we're on the current gen with PS5, Xbox Series X and the Switch. There's rumors of a new switch console coming out for Nintendo, with better hardware and will supposedly play 4K. Which means that a PS6 and new Xbox is probably on the horizon.
Do you think we'll see new consoles by 2025? Maybe sooner? Usual generations last around 5 years, so we're closing in on 5 years around 2025 for both the Xbox Series and PS5. The Switch is due even more, as they released the switch back in 2017, meaning it's been out for six years now. It more than anything else is probably due for a new console.
When do you think we'll see new consoles announced?
