How do you stop members from leaving your forum?

One thing that's very certain about forum members is that there's always going to be a time when some members would no longer wish to be on your board for one reason or another.

What do you usually have to do in order to prevent that from happening in big numbers because it's going affect your website traffic and ranking potentially?

Would you consider paying them in one way or another to stick around for a long period of time?

When someone wants to leave your forum there is nothing you can do. My forums are not paid to post forums and I don't offer cash incentives to the posters, therefore, people frequently come and go from my forum
