Some members will be active on forums for a while and after some time they simply stop coming back to the forum. Thats simply sad knowing that you did nothing wrong to make them go away.
It could be because of lots of reasons. May be they filtered out the emails from that specific forums, or they could have forgotten about this forum and stuffs like that. I have seen this scenario on almost all the forums out there.

So what will you do to make them come back to the forums?
Do you ever send out friendly emails to them or anything like that?

I usually will send out a bulk email once a month, reminding everyone.

If it was a very active member and they just disappeared I will send a personal email making sure everything is alright and if they left the forum for a specific forum for a reason. Adds a personal touch to your community. :)

Nice idea indeed. I guess I will have to send out a bulk email here too.

Same here, My forum has it set up that it filters the members deemed "inactive" over a certain period of time and I can send them an automatic message by email through the database.
