How big is your community? How big was your biggest community? I once had a community where there were 1300 registered members of which 40 percent were monthly active users. There were over 10k forum posts and more than two dozen blog posts. I have never owned a community as big as this one. My current communities have less than 3k posts and less than 150 members, of which only 20-25 percent are monthly active.

My main community is 70,000 members.

With that said, I like the focus on Active Monthly Users (AMU). At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you have a thousand members or ten thousand members, what matters is how many people participate.

I periodically check other Webmaster related forums (many of which are very well established), and most are ghost towns. AJ is much smaller in terms of total registrations, but still very lively with new topics every day.

There is something to be said for keeping your community at a size that is financially sustainable. Do you still have the database and files?
I unfortunately don't have them anymore, we did take a backup but my hard drive corrupted out of the blue and I lost it all, which upsets me as I had so much.
