Having meetings with your forum staff

If you run forums, do you ever have meetings with your forum staff? Maybe a quick discord call and chat about changes, rules, and other mod duties. I like to have mod meetings, because it's a lot easier to explain things via voice, at least for me. What about you? Do you feel you need meetings or none at all?

I do not have a lot of staff on my forums. I have a couple of people working on my forums and I communicate via Telegram. I do not have to frequently contact my staff and my staff also do not have to contact me frequently as my forums are small communities. However, as a staff on other forums, I use slack for meetings.

There may something happening in your forum which a long discussion need to be done on, the discussion won't go well in the forum's DM.

Having an area with staff to talk is a great idea. I think it's fine to do meeting via text as well, or just to talk via text when something needs to be done.

The staff could have a meeting "behind the scenes". They may discuss many things related to forum performance and issues related to members. This might be a common thing. They may be in contact with each other on social media. Some of them may have internal messaging system on the forum.

The size of your community is going to play a very big role in determining if it is necessary for you to have meeting with your staff members or just send the messages on what they are supposed to do. But if there is a critical case that needs to be discussed on, I believe that it is necessary to have a meeting to talk about it so that each staff member is going to give your opinion on the subject before the final decision is made.

It is important to have this on your forum. A means of communicating with everyone that is staff on your forum and also an inner room for admins. This is also important when you want to keep track of activities that staff do on the forum on a daily basis too.

Having a scheduled time to talk just generally can be helpful because it can create a family feel where you are talking with friends and not a business vibe. I've been on forums without meetings being scheduled and it worked as well. I can see it being a bit more on top of things with this though. Definitely at the beginning of a forum I would recommend this because it's helpful to keep eachother all on the same page. Or at least have staff know to communicate in the staff area on the forum.

Most of the forums that I'm using today are now making use of Discord as their communication channel outside their community and it's something that I have begin to start enjoying very well. This is because it is a very easy place to communicate with anyone that you want to talk with on any kind of situation that is work-related.

Yes, if the size of the forum is small, you may not need to have staff members because you can handle all the forum administrative needs without needing assistance. There are webmasters who prefer managing small forum because it's easier to take care of.

I began using Discord, actively, recently and it has been a great experience. I am someone that likes to chat and be active on a lot of places and discord is one place where I can catch up with key details about what is happening on staff. I like it when someone is also pretty okay with using discord and being active there as a staff as well.

Seriously, Discord have proven to be a very good social media chatting platform. I was actually under looking it a while ago but when I started having projects that took me to start making use of the social media platform frequently, I am falling in love with it every single day that I make use of it to communicate.
