This has happened to me a couple of times and on one occasion I didn't go back because I felt I was being bullied. The second time was just an argument with a fellow forum member (all good now) so I took a break and then went back. However I felt very uncomfortable almost as bad as if had happened in the real world. Has this happened to you? How did you deal with it?

Not at all it hasn't happened, but I've experienced it happen to other people and it's really not a good feeling, sorry about what you went through .

So far I have not felt such discomfort in any forum, it must be very unpleasant. I have had certain disagreements in some opinions and I simply give my opinion and leave it at that, I do not get involved in discussions that affect me. I enjoy being in the forums and I want to keep it that way.

I think really it's being able to walk away from a potential argument. I have been in some very heated discussions with people and looking back I should not have got involved. I've had to apologise to Fergal and Cyberfreak on more than one occasion but strangely enough, when the argument dies down, it seems to bring about a kind of mutual respect for the person you have locked horns with.

I have not participated on a lot of forums. I am on just two forums, this one and Bizdustry. Forum posting is my recently discovered earning opportunity. So far, I have not been made to feel uncomfortable in the forums I participate.

In my offline work, I have been in discussions defending my rights and points of view, it is as you describe, "it seems to generate a kind of mutual respect towards the person with whom you have confronted", which in the end is nice, you have defended your opinion and you have made yourself respected, and I also end up apologizing if I have offended at some point.

I've had a downtime with the so called Mr B of BMF.com. I was totally annoyed at the actions he took over my account on his forum. It just happened to me, like when someone i worked for denied me all i earned. Up till now, I'm still reeling over that beef i had with him.

I am always interested in any online communities that I will learn a lot of things from,if I cannot learn any positive things that will impact my life ,I may not really be interested since most of the discussion will not interest me.

Not on any forum, but I was once bullied on Hubpages. There were members who started a thread on hubpages forum just to call me names. I don't know if the thread is still there.

I have been made to feel uncomfortable on my offline part time jobs previously, but nothing of that sort on my online work.

Nothing makes me feel uncomfortable when i overworked myself on a forum site, to find out that the forum is scam, or the job is just scam.

These things should be banned on all sites, forum owners should ban such actions from being presented to a member. I do not agree with what happened to you and other members as it is real bullying.

Wow that's terrible, the admin should have put a stop to it

That's what I meant, how can they allow you to create a thread for the purpose of harassing a member and insulting. To me that is serious and they should stop such things from happening. Of course this is a very personal opinion.

The one who started the thread left the site, I don't know if she was banned or she left by her own. Most of the legit sites are against such bullying.

I have been told that on some sites, admin appoints a member who goes on bullying. This is the create controversy on the site, which can bring more revenue,

Of course it is, it really bothers me and it is not with me that kind of actions from members of a forum, or any website where they are in communication. Respect should always prevail, it is better to walk away than to fall into discord

Once my writing instructor said to me that when someone bullies, do not react. If you do not reach the person who is bullying you will make a fool of himself. If you react, you will make a scene.

it happens, depends on the type of members that exist in a forum, but i have been through some forums where some members seemed to be "bullying" or so toxic
