I have tried some CPM networks in the past but the money I got from it was very less and I never really met their payment threshold iirc!

I tried few but nothing worked well.. I don't think it will still do as my site haven't reached a good traffic.

CPM pays you for the impressions of the ad you're displaying. So there will be a predefined price for an x amount of impressions. Say like 1000 impressions will get you 5USD.
CPM stands for Cost per mille/impressions
