Has your web host ever taken a website down? I've never had issues with my host, but I know people who have had to deal with many issues from their hosts. One friend of mine, his site was taken down because he had an image of Britney Spears on his site, nothing bad, dirty or anything like that. Just I guess it was a copyright concern and they took it way more serious than most places do.

What are your horror stories with web hosts?

A site that I was getting updates from was taken down because the site owner was promoting adult contents where teens have access to his website. It was against their rules.

I have had the experience of having my website taken down but not for infringement on copyright or anything of the sort. I had a wrong domain that was not my taste in error. I left it to expire and was taken down at that point

I think the two most important reasons why a web host can take a site are;
1. If the site owner fails to renew the payment when it's due even after several days or months of warning.
2. If the site violate the terms and conditions of the hosting company.

If you are using your website for illegal purpose, and if your webhost receives complains against you, your website can be taken down. This has never happened to me.

I think the only I experience was deliberate. I intentionally refused to renew my domain registration after several warning from the registrants. After a while they were left with no choice than to bring it down.

Yes, on several occasions. I was running a forum, and users would sometime post some sexual content. This forced the host to shut down my hosting.

A web host taking down my website would be the most painful experience for me that is why I am always very careful of the kind of web hosting service that I will make use of when I start up my own website.

Even though I don't have any website at the moment to have experienced such, but I think it can be so painful or frustrating for one's website to be brought down, after the stress to set it up, even though there must be reason(s) for such action. But I am wondering if there is a way to solve this issue for the website to be up again. Or is the said website gone just like that?

I never had any problems with the webhosting company I chose. I have always been satisfied. when they did work on the datacenter, they informed me in advance one day that there would be 1-2-3 hours of downtime. everything went according to plan.

I haven't experienced this and I don't think anyone should have issues with it because there are terms and conditions that's meant to be read and followed to avoid these types of issues cropping up.
