Harmful Effects Of Smartphones On Our Brain Health

There was a time when no one had smartphones in their hands. People used to live really simple life. However, as technology has improved so much, I think that the usage of smartphones is becoming a regular thing now. Some so many people tend to use smartphones. Smartphones are becoming an everyday thing in our lives. Smartphone usage is becoming so common now that now people belonging to each and every class own one. I do not think that smartphones are "evil." There could be many advantages of utilizing smartphones as well. However, this article will focus on a few disadvantages of using smartphones.

1) Smartphones Addiction May Be Bad For Your Brain

Many folks tend to be addicted to many different things, such as smartphones. The fact of the matter is that there are many reasons why people could be addicted to phones. Smartphones are gadgets that are used to entertain people. This is why people's dopamine levels in the brain could increase when they use smartphones. This could make smartphones an addictive "substance." A new study which is released by the experts of the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America) has suggested that being addicted to smartphones could lead to an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain. The study suggested that people addicted to smartphones had a tremendous amount of gamma-aminobutyric in their brains. This neurotransmitter decreases brain signaling. Having an incredibly high level of these neurotransmitters could lead to anxiety.

2) Some Studies Say That Possession Of Smartphones Could Also Affect the Brain

The study I mentioned before has also been backed up by other studies that suggest that even possessing phones could hurt your brain. The University of Texas conducted this study at Austin. According to the study, possessing smartphones could lead to cognitive decline 9at least a temporary one). Perhaps this could be due to the fact that smartphones could divert the attention of people. However, it seems like it has more to do with a person's dependence on smartphones and how his or her behavior is linked to smartphone usage, and their subconscious mind may still be thinking about phones.

3) Smartphones Could Have An Impact On Our Thinking Skills

There was a time when people relied less on technology and they relied more on their thinking capacity and mental abilities. However, now we have everything in our hands in the form of smartphones. Now we calculate things using a calculator. We use maps on our phones to find directions. Moreover, we have applications that help us solve and deal with various problems. A new study conducted at the University of Waterloo has suggested that this may decrease our ability to think and perform demanding tasks without depending on technology such as smartphones.

Conclusion

It might be possible that there could be many advantages to using smartphones. However, everything comes with a price. The fact of the matter is that smartphones have helped us a lot. However, smartphones could have an impact on our mental abilities and capabilities as well.

Research is still ongoing but biomedical researchers have observed a deleterious correlation between intensive smartphones usage and human health. One such effect is interruption of the sleep cycle. The blue light decreases the content of the hormone melatonin responsible for induction of sleep. Not to be left out is the onset of mental laziness. Many people especially students tend to discard the need for memorization. You just browse whatever queries you might have without the need for retention. In the long run, this affects memory loss and cognitive abilities. There is also anecdotal evidence that radiation emitted by smartphones is a causative agent of brain cancer. Quite a mouthful to ignore.
In addition, smartphones alter the neurological activity of the brain resulting in addiction. Attached to its coattails is a nagging anxiety when the smartphone gets lost along with emotional disturbances. Noteworthy is the fact that addiction to smartphones causes distraction for both pedestrians and drivers alike resulting in road accidents.

I know it's a rather old post, but It caught my attention. Smartphones really have become an integral part of our lives, but it's also important to be aware of their potential negative impacts on our brain and cognitive abilities. It's always a good idea to balance using technology to make our lives easier and relying on our own mental abilities to perform tasks. In addition to the potential negative effects of smartphone usage on our brain health, some people may also be concerned about the radiation emitted by these devices. If you are one of those people, you may be interested in using emf material to help prevent any negative effects. This material is designed to block or absorb radiation from electrical devices such as smartphones, laptops, and Wi-Fi routers.
