Now this time google comes up with an algorithm update which can actually benefit users. This algorithm is meant to lower the SERPs of the webpages which have lots of ads above the content. According to Google:

“If you click on a website and the part of the website you see first either doesn’t have a lot of visible content above-the-fold or dedicates a large fraction of the site’s initial screen real estate to ads, that’s not a very good user experience. Such sites may not rank as highly going forward.

What do you think about this update?

I'm a bit confused with this update, because I have ads on blog that is at the top of the post and at the top of the sidebar. Does that put me at risk of losing some possible "points" and ranking lower?

I don't think so, because the visitors don't have to scroll through the page for seeing the content on your website which is good. Google is aiming those websites which don't have contents on their first fold of their pages!

I think it is a good move by Google, many destroy their sites with lot of ads. This may prevent them from using much ads in their site
