I have a Proboards forum. What I like about it is it's for people who don't have experience with coding. I know some people don't care for these because you do become limited. There's also nothing like owning your own forum. Do any of you have a free forum host, what is it, & what do you like & don't like about it? I'm actually used to Proboards, the style, features, but I do have it in the back of my mind, if my forum expanded, to own my own.

I don't own a forum. I have a handful of websites. However, I never tried free hosting. I did have some free blogs with wordpress and blogger, but I never tried free hosting companies. Using free hosting means there are limitations. If you are limited in funds, try cheap hosting instead of free hosting.

I don't have a free forum for now,bit probably would have one someday but before then, I'll also like to know more about having a forum to know how it turns out to be monetize, because I can't create a free forum without the hope of been monetize someday I guess.

In order to create a forum, you do not have to code, you can easily build forum from available forum scripts like xenforo (paid forum script) or mybb (free forum script). You just need a domain and hosting.

By posting on various forums I have learned one important rule of creating a website. If you are serious about building a website, never go after free site (creating a site with free domain and free hosting).

It might be good though I have never tried building a forum, I also feel that since it is free it may be difficult to actually get all the features needed for the forum.

good if you are on a tight budget, but remember that anything free won't have the same quality as something that's paid for sure, so upgrade whenever your budget allows you

From my little experience in website design, whatever is free web hosting would not have the complete or premium package which might affect the quality of the site.

There is mothing as better as if you actually had owned your own forum instead of using that freeboard stuff toure using right now

Of course free forum posting website are very good as much as even the paid forum posting services but there are little edges in which pay forum I have over free forums hosting services. Some of them are lack of interruption in operation when hosting on paid hosting website.

Free forum hosting can't drag some of the heavyweight adsense to your site and you won't earn much from your free software forum site. But in self hosted script you can earn better cos adsense approved such kind of website for monetization, by displaying their ads.

Yes, free domain and free hosting are not good. If you are just trying to have fun and nothing serious about building a website, you can try free service.

I prefer going through the hard way to learn about coding skill to build website be it forum or blog from the scratch using self hosted software.

I don't really know much about building forums but what I know is that you should have some knowledge in HTML. I have not heard of free forums hosting services

Yes that will be a very wise decision and plan to keep In the works to see that you actually get that become reality. It will benefit more in the long run
