When it comes to how your staff interact with members, are you strict, or do you not have that many rules? Such as members and staff talking in a thread and joking around having fun (nothing inappropriate of course).

I generally love to have fun in most threads that I deem to not be too serious; though there are times I feel like having fun in certain threads shouldn't be tolerated, like discussing major changes that affects the forum userbase.

There should be a line in general to dictate where fun can be had and where it should be restricted, I also like to have fun but I agree with you that it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have fun in some aspect

I do not think that there should be any Strict rules prohibiting forum staff from interacting with forum remembers in anyway because these playful banters are what give the forums it needed vibes and and liveliness.

Members getting in touch with staffs/Admin is normal it makes the forum more interactive, engaging. At least we learn from the staffs through wealth of experience they have.

I think having a section where the forum members and staff can have a nice chit chat can be really helpful for the making the community cheerful, but over doing it can be detrimental.

I also believe that a forum moderator or the administrator should be lenient when it comes to interacting with the members. I find it great that the administrators of the Bizdustry forum are quite lenient and overlook a lots of things. Being a member myself, I try my best to post serious replies that are related to the actual discussion. However, having a bit of chit chat is okay.

I think that having that chat between a staff member and a regular member can be a very good thing because it will promote them to want to be on the forum and this will also help their motivation levels and in turn the quality of their content.

It is very easy to be tempted to have lots of rules in a forum to keep things in order. But this usually dilutes the discussion and makes people feel under the control and pressure of the moderators. I believe in the "Wisdom of the Crowd". When you leave it to the members to come up with the rules and regulations, they will feel part of the community and this will enhance more engagement in the forum.

Well I am not that kind of person who wants to have strict rules for members and staff. As long as we have normal things going on than I have no problems even they talk jokes and others stuff.

It is good to not be too strict however at the same time you have to make sure that they are able to stay on track and that there are no spammers in the forum as well.

Yes but now a days many forum have advance features which stop spammers but now days they starts different method where they don't make posts but start spamming in PM so we have to restrict PM option.

That can be the case at times however i think that if you remove the feature then it can be hard for the members to communicate with each other and in this way it will limit their interaction and could cause spam on the forum.

My Blog and forum is a one-man show, I directly chat with my members and take part in discussions. I believe, in order to make the site engaging the site staff should be encouraged to interact with the members in a professional and jovial way.

That is a good thing because i think that if you interact with the people there then there is a level of transparency and that is what makes s a site successful. That is what i saw with bizdustry and alex as well.
