Forum Host Costs

The price depends on what type of hosting you've picked. Shared hosting is the cheapest solution, and even shared hosting varies from company to company. I pay a yearly fee for my hosting, I use shared hosting right now. I don't feel the need to switch to a VPS, and I honestly don't have the money to do so now anyways.

Note that it's perfectly possible to get a VPS (albeit with no cPanel or similar management tools) for $5.

For hosting alone... around $16 USD a month. It's a VPS that has adequate resources to run ElasticSearch and a few other services.
Honestly... the hosting is the cheapest part of the my site. $35x5 for @Bob's fantastic add-ons (and well worth it). $29 USD yearly renewal for Social groups. $95 yearly renewal for XF (and 1st party add-ons). $25 renewal for the PixelExit style.
You can get NameCheap shared hosting (medium tier) for $2.38 a month for the first year, then it jumps to a whole $6.48. Or you can jump up to the one I'd love to have from HiveLocity for use creating my own VPS's for myself and a few good friends... that's only $965 USD a month. Of course, that's unlimited bandwidth at 1Gbps also.
