Ever try marketing on sites you normally wouldn't?

If you've exhausted most of your ideas for promotion, would you ever consider trying to market on sites and places that you normally wouldn't. I personally would market my services nearly anywhere as long as it brought in sales. Would you? Or would you only work or market in certain areas?

I market my websites and businesses only on the places that are related to my niches and the platforms are likely to send traffic. What is the point of marketing if you do not have any chance of getting traffic? I do not have any gambling related business, would I benefit by marketing on gambling sites? Certainly not.
