Ever sell a major asset to start a business?

Starting a business is not easy, it takes a lot of money, knowledge and passion to really get going. The first major hurdle is always the money needed to start a business. A business can't be started unless you have some funding. But, what if you don't have the money, but have a killer idea? Would you ever sell a major asset of yours in order to invest into that idea? Maybe it's a car, or an old property of yours. Have you ever taken a gamble by selling a major asset in order to start a business?

When I wanted to start my own online business, I didn't have to invest a lot of money, but I sold my laptop because it was very easy to manage everything from a smartphone. I used Instagram as a sales page

Well, I have never sold any assets to start a business but I had to sell my assets to pay the bank loan that I used while starting a business
