Ever have to fire someone for slacking off or not doing their work?

As an employer, did you ever have to fire someone because they either stopped working or just decided to slack off most of the time? I never had to fire someone for such a reason, but have you? How did it go?

I don't understand how a person can be so lazy. It's your job. You must do your job properly and not just sit. If you are the boss, you need to make sure that the worker understands everything she or he needs to do. If not, explain their duties. If they don't listen, fire them. There is no place for lazy people.
 
There is nothing wrong with having someone who is not doing their job properly sacked because the person is not contributing very well to the company's growth in order for him or her to be entitled any kind of payment in the end so it is best to relieve the person of their duty.

Well, if the relevant person is not performing well, then I would not fire such kind of person. I may try my best to find some alternative method for that. maybe you could fit that person in some other kind of department in your company?

Everyone is all required to carry out a particular set of job in any business organisation and whenever you are not doing the job that you are hired to do, I don't see any reason why they should be moving you to another department to do another job which you are not hired to do.
 
I have not had the chance to fire any of my employee. I have a little company with one staff. He perform his duties nicely and have not found anything to make me to fire him anytime...

It's always very good to hire someone who's completely committed to working for you. The effort that staff is going to be investing in your business will very evident and too hard to miss. It's why taking time to make sure that you employ the right person for your business matters a lot.
 
When a staff is not doing his job as he is supposed to do, it is the duty of his supervisor to find out if he is disturbed by anything. But it is not something that should be routine for him...

Some people can be very difficult to understand. They are the one's who applied to be employed to work. When they are hired, they are going to be very lazy on the job and still expect for them not to be sacked because of the silly excuses they always make for not delivering.

Well, I may not fire someone right away. I would certainly ask them to mend their ways. if they do not do that, then I may consider counselling. This is done in many business organisations. The mentor does that in order to identify the problem and discuss the problem with the employee.
 
In my real life, I never fired anyone for not doing work, however, I have a couple of times stopped hiring people because they were not doing the job properly. Normally I hire for task-based work and if their performance is not satisfactory, I will not hire again.

There might be many reasons why a person may not be performing his or her duty in the right manner. Being bullied at work is also one of the main problems. They bully may dominate other workers. This may lead the victim to lose interest in work.

It is very important to find out the reason why the employee is not performing his job well. It is good to hear from him before conclusion on his matter. If he needs to be trained more on the job, he can be given that opportunity..

Before being hired, you pledged to carry out all the job descriptions in your position to the best of your knowledge. When you're not being able to do that, there's no reason to still keep paying who's not delivering on the job they were hired to do. It's only if they used to work well and all of sudden started slacking off, then I will call them in to know what's wrong.
 
I've slacked on my job once but I was fortunate not to be sacked over it. I've been working well and meeting my target for years but I had a serious personal family issue which distracted me from work. When my supervisor found out I was slacking, he called me to his office to ask what's wrong. I had to tell him everything. It was what saved me.

I reckon that this is why I strong think that communication is they key when it comes to working for someone. If you are not able to work, then you may need to discuss the problem with your boss and this is how you may be able to deal with the problem and avoid getting fired.

If my supervisor didn't call my attention to what I've doing, I may later get better but it may take longer with the business suffering because of my poor performance. The man had good leadership skills with how he managed my situation. I was very happy with him which led me to buy him a wrist watch as a gift at the company's end of the year's party.

This is something that is only going to be possible if you are working with co-workers who have good intention towards you in the same workplace because that is the only way they're going to be on the lookout to find out that something is actually wrong with how you are working and for them to try and get you back to being normal, so that you are not going to end up losing your job.

That's too harsh and not what I am going to do straight away. It is important to ask a staff why they are behaving in a particular manner instead of sending them home. If the reasons are not satisfactory, then a warning should follow up. We all make mistakes and talking with a staff on situations such as that is pretty necessary.

It's definitely the right approach to make use of especially when the said staff have always been committed to doing his or her job well without any problems. So, when they start doing what never used to, as an entrepreneur who cares for his workers, you should look into deeper before acting.
