Mine was when I got to know that bananas are berries according to botanical definitions, but strawberries aren't? It's like fruit identity theft! So, if you're ever feeling confused about life, just remember: even fruits have identity crises sometimes. 🍌🍓🤷‍♂️

I always believed that tomatoes were vegetables until I read that they were actually fruits, so we are in the same situation hehe, I have not seen any scientific fact that has made my hair stand on end, but there are many things that science says that it is quite funny.

Actually, tomatoes are regarded as vegetables in the culinary world. So, it's right to say that they can be seen as vegetables and also fruits at the same time. Most of the time, it's nutritionists that sees them as vegetables.

I guess you're right, science said tomatoes are fruits, when all our lives we had believed tomatoes are vegetables, anyway, I don't care much what they are, since tomatoes are pretty good haha, with a little salt and olive oil :)

We both agree on this one. It doesn't matter if tomatoes are vegetables or if they are fruits, the most important thing is that they are very good for our consumption. It have a lot of good nutrients our body needs to be in good condition.

A science fact which I was surprised when I carried out the practical was Osmosis. Osmosis is the movement of solvent or water through a semipermeable membrane from the region of low concentrated solution into a higher concentrated region. I used paw-paw to carry out the practical. I had it cut in half, peeled off the green back, removed the seedlings and poured in salt in the centre. I brought a bowl of water and placed the paw-paw inside it. It wasn't long and water moved through the paw-paw from the bowl into the part where I poured in salt. It was just like magic.

Some plants can communicate with each other through chemical signals to warn about herbivore attacks or changes in their environment. 😏😏

Now, the question I have for you is how do we interpret or understand plan communication or language? I can understand when they shrink after being touched or uprooted but when you say they communicate with each other through chemical signals, how does that happen?

Understanding plants, involves studying various ways plants interact with their environment, including through chemical signals.

Plants release compounds when they experience stress, such as herbivore attacks. These serve as signals to neighboring plants. Research has shown that some plants can "smell" these chemicals and respond by activating their own defense mechanisms.

Some plants send chemical into the soil so this also serves as a means of communication.

Wow, thanks for the lecture. I probably didn't pay attention very well in class when they were teaching plant science but you have done that for me now, so I'm very happy about it. I'm going to add it to things I have been able to learn from using forums.

Don't mention. We all learn everyday, life is learning. It is good to ask questions.

I remember this practical very well when I was still in secondary school and I actually did not believe it was something that is going to happen until we performed it in our laboratory. I can tell you that was a very exciting experience knowing that something like this is possible.

It was very nice practical and I'm never going to forget it until I die. It was the first practical I carried out on my own which is what makes it a part of me. Forgetting it will be like tearing out a part of me. It's not possible for this to happen.

Yeah, that's very correct. It's one thing that I love so much about myself. I'm never shy to ask questions especially when it comes to things that I don't know. There's no way I would expect myself to know everything which is why I'm always open to learning a new thing like I've just did with knowing how plants communicate.
