Ever built one?

Have you or would you ever build your own social networking platform? I've had ideas for one for awhile but I don't have enough funds for something like that to be worthwhile. Have you ever made your own social networking platform or would you ever if you were able to do so?

Currently, I own two forums, and forums are also a kind of social media platform as you can socialize with other people. I once built a social network site on wordpress but I closed the site because I could not get users.

As you say, social networks are something difficult to build, more than anything because of the funds they require, it is better to start with forums and try to make them look like a kind of social network, since they are cheaper and I think easier to manage.
