This isn't about me, but a friend of mine had a site he used to post a lot to. He had a decent amount of traffic coming to it a month, but sadly he was forced to sell off the domain to a company that owned the name. I guess he had the name before the company, but didn't own the copyright even after the company came out.

He decided to just sell the domain to them and rebrand the site, but sadly he ended up losing a ton of traffic because of it and later closed it down.

Has there ever been a time where you were forced to close a site down?

There was never a time I was forced to close a site, but I think to design a site, one can use plenty free and paid tools to create a stunning site, pictures can also attract visitors.

There are definitely some times in which I have been first in order to close a site because things were not just going the way it was supposed to be and I think the idea was validated.

A site shutting down can be especially upsetting if you've invested time in it, become part of a community, or created or uploaded content. Blog posts, photo libraries, bookmark collections, conversations, messages, friend networks and carefully curated folders of RSS feeds will typically disappear with the site.

I have not experience it. What happens to your friend is bad. I hope he sold the domain for very high amount. I subscribe to your explanation that he owned the name the company. Trademark is a very sensitive case and the registrar or Google will study the case very well before they'll contact your friend.

Yes I did for 3 weeks as I was doing major update on my website have so many bugs and issue so I completely shut down website so I can work on it and fix all issues.

There was a website that we were forced to close because everything was not just working and you're not getting any traffic so we just thought that it was bad luck and decided to close it.

Yes, a few of them. I was not directly forced but they were just completely dead. It was pointless to keep them going. I saw no benefit from it and paying the costs to keep them up seemed silly.

I do not think that I can fall into that trap because it is very difficult to develop a blog if you're not patient. You will face a lot of hurdles in the process and getting monetized is another issue entirely. All you need is patience.

Well I strongly believe that There are definitely some times in which I have been first in order to close a site because things were not just going the way it was supposed to be and I think the idea was validated.

I do not think that a person would like to get forced to close the website and I have never come across any such kind of condition where I am induced to shut down the website.

There have undoubtedly been instances where I was the first to shut down a website since things were not exactly going as planned and I believed the concept to be sound.

If a person is not at all active and cannot give time to the website, then I think that the chances are that he may hire someone or he may shut it down due to this reasons as well.

Closing a website down is quite unfortunate for the individual in question. It can be especially disappointing when a site you've spent time on, joined a collective on, or developed or submitted material to shuts down.

i am currently on that boat now, and i would appreciate advice as well, my site is no longer productive, my traffic has greatly reduced and i planned on applying for adsense. please what can i do?

At least it's better or should i say he's lucky he could still sell the domain and he's not sue for using another company's name when he didn't own the copyright

Selling a domain that is not yours can put you in so much risk in some futureparts of the world and he is lucky he was not sued, but he should find a way to avoid issues in the

I don't have my own site, but I heard that many people were forced to close down it can happen for many reasons actually not enough profit, no motivation or you can't afford it I know that many scammy sites close down after some time and then create another clearly similar site which is very unprofessional and fishy

If someone is sedentary and unable to show commitment towards the webpage, I believe that it is quite likely that he or she will close it down for the reasons already mentioned.
