I am thinking to create a personal website, it will be more like a portfolio website where I will share my resume. Should I use a dot me domain? I mean would justin dot me sound good for a website about myself? Currently the domain cost $5.88 for the first year on namecheap and afterwards I will have to pay $18.98.

I have often thought about buying a dot me domain for my kid as the dot com for the name of my kid is already taken

Lol, someone is just hanging at the door side already taken your son's name as its site domain's name. Considering the one, that bears your name should be suiting, cos it is a personal website for self promotion.

Dot me sounds really good domain extension for a personal website or blog, but is is expensive compared to the king com

My dear .me website extension will actually be a good website for personal activities because it just describes what the website is all about and people will easily locate this website when they type it and there's system.

There is nothing wrong with using such domains and of course I have seen a lot of people use it. Domains usually represent people's interest and the kind of purpose their websites serves.

Since dot com cost less, dot com is still the best choice. However, it is impossible to get a dot com even for your personal name, therrefore, you will have to switch to other alternatives.

That's right. Dot me looks interesting for a personal website, for instance, I can use justin.me, if the domain for my first name is not available, I can also use surname. But the issue here is the cost of renewal.

Since it's a personal website, then you can go ahead and use that domain extension because no one really cares about it - it might probably be used only when you ask someone to visit it.
But that price is quite on the high side don't you think?

I own a .me domain and am happy with it. I really like the way it looks. you can also use it on a blog. for example justin.me, it sounds really nice.

How do you intend to make such website and what will be the niche. I am very interested in knowing your plans on this. I will like to create one for my kids. It will be very interesting and incisive.

If you are looking to share your CV with people and I think that it is actually a very good idea to rather create a Linkedin profile because a lot of people are actually linked up to this.

Sure, if you're looking for a personal website domain, .me is a great option! It's short, memorable, and affordable. However, i would suggest you first try an d get a .com TLD for obvious reasons. If you fail, try different name variation. Like adding your surname but going for the popular.com/.net/.org. Only go for those less popular extensions when you have actually exhausted the TLDs.

A lot of online personalities use these. I think it is a good way to have a space where people can contact you or see what you do and it can actually function as an online portfolio or resume.

If you want a domain, the most important thing to remember is to register for the most appropriate name, you can use any extension you want. There is no problem except the price attached for the renewal.

Dot me domain is good for personal websites or portfolios. I do not recommend it for websites like eshop. Also some sites offer free dot me (if you are a student ONLY), so definitely check it out.

Dot me domain extension is fashionable. I think I had one that I got for $1+ the first year. It's good for personal blogs and websites. However renewing at $18+ for subsequent years is too expensive. Why not go for .com which is similarly priced or cheaper.xyz which is popular now.
