Domain Extension worth considering?

Is a domain extension worth considering with all those new fancy extensions?
Like is it different if I have a .com or .io?
And if so what's the difference?

The difference in domain extension is the popularity, dot.com is the most popular domain extension in the world, followed by for to and dot cn created by the Chinese, the difference is the number of domains registered under it.

dot com or dot io, it does not really matter in terms of SEO. SEO is mainly depended on the second level domain, the name that comes after www. and before dot com/net/info etc.
