A content strategy can result in a couple of things:
(1) A direction of what kind of content you'll post
(2) Value added to the content you post for your community
It's important to attempt to set a goal with every piece of content you create.
Then you need to decide on how often you'll post the content. Maybe once a day, five times a day, one topic in each category, etc.
Having a content calendar is ideal to keep yourself ahead of schedule and free of idea blocks.
You should measure the metrics and impact of each piece of content to know what to post next.
Are you a "just post on a whim and see what happens" sort of community owner, or do you actually create a strategy for your content?
