Do you use gig sites to find developers?

Most gig sites have a lot of options for software developers, coders, graphic designers and so on, ready to be hired. And some of the sellers on these sites are pros, I'll give them that. But there are a lot of people on these gig sites who will probably lie about their skills.

My opinion, is that I would never use a gig site, like Fiverr for example, or alternatives to it, because you don't always get the best sellers from it. I think finding an established developer, who has a portfolio and history to back him/her, is more ideal.

Well, I have never done that but I think that would be a great option to hire a developer if you want to because gig sites have flexible pricing and we get a lot of options for developers.

Gig site cannot be helpful to find trustworthy person who will develop website for us. Many people are disguising just to secure job and work as ghost worker to meet up with clients request.

I have not had to. I have a lot of connections at work for this sort of thing, should I need it. I would rather network with people I know than work with people I don't online when it comes to more expensive tasks.
