Do you trust mom and pop hosting?

These are normally companies created from reseller accounts from big names like Host Gator etc..

What might be some pros and cons? Do you feel people won't give smaller companies a chance, despite research that could be done?

Let me ask you one simple question, would you buy hosting from me (unknown seller) or from namecheap (well known company). People do not want to take a risk of using unknown company to host their websites. However, some reseller hosting companies manage to build a strong band and sell a lot of accounts.

Honestly I don't trust lesser known hosting companies, a lot of them end up going under and then you're forced to find new hosting. In worse case scenarios, the hosting company won't even give you a warning to back up your website and then they shut down their service, leaving you to start from scratch on another host.
